They say that “the devil is in the details” – small details can become a big(ger) deal especially if there are mistakes made in them. Small details when done correctly can also mean that a good project becomes a great project. The work we did for Mr. & Mrs. M. of Wayne definitely falls into the “great project” camp.
The M’s own an impressive house in Wayne, NJ with only one fault in their eyes – the vinyl clapboard siding around the back and side of the house looked distinctly dated.
Our Sales & Design Consultant worked though a series of options with them before deciding on CertainTeed Cedar Impressions Straight Edge Perfection Vinyl Siding. The Cedar Impressions line is one of CertainTeed’s most popular lines of siding – it gives the impression of a natural cedar wood finish but with color and a finish that outlasts wood and most of its competitors. Unlike some of their competitors Cedar Impression shingles do not have color just on their surface – the color is blended throughout the shingle meaning that the color never fades.
The clients choose the color Espresso. Espresso was a new color to the Cedar Impressions siding line as of late 2021.
Our proposal included the removal of the existing siding and the replacement of any damaged plywood.
How about those details we alluded to above?
We used color-matched corner trim to allow the color to spread around the whole house – no breaks in color for mismatched trim.
We installed off-white, PVC coated aluminum trim around the existing windows and doors avoiding the “sunken window” look and giving the house a more natural appearance.
We created custom keystones on their garage doors to allow for a seamless trim piece, creating a polished final look.
