Selecting a Home Improvement Contractor

Did you know?

  • Most homeowners like you only hire a Home Improvement Contractor once every 7 to 10 years
  • Many Home Remodeling Companies fail in the first 5 years
  • Since 2000, hundreds of new Home Improvement Contractors have started up in New Jersey

So, how do you choose the correct Home Improvement Contractor for your Home Remodeling project?

We’d suggest:

  • You research your proposed contractor very carefully
  • Ask them lots of pertinent questions
  • Get the answers to your questions in writing so that you have a written record if anything goes wrong

Here’s a list of questions for you to ask your Home Improvement Contractor. It’s not an exhaustive list and not all will be applicable to your job but it should give you help in deciding whether they are right for you.

Questions about Reputation and Stability

Are you registered with the State of New Jersey as a Home Improvement Contractor and will you provide us with your registration number?
Will you supply a copy of your current insurance certificate?
Will you provide a copy of your business registration for your current company? (This is proof of how long they have been in business under this name.)
Can you provide me with a reference list with at least 25 customers?
